The list of digital technologies that have remained in use for a decade or more is a short one. MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface), the universal standard for communication between electronic instruments — which debuted at NAMM in 1983 — has gone unchanged for 30 years. Introduced to the public the same year Microsoft releasedWindows 1.0, MIDI belongs to a Paleolithic era of computer interface design. Nevertheless, it’s still used in every major recording studio, by almost every electronic musician working today, and aspects of its design have directly influenced the evolution of several musical genres.
“The music business is fucked up. It’s so often you see people rewarded for the wrong reasons. You see these people rise out of nowhere with little to no talent that are put together by corporations. That’s the thing people don’t realize, that all these people that you see rocket out of nowhere to superstardom: occasionally there’s someone who’s an awesome musician, but nine times out of 10, it’s a fucking product and it’s scientifically engineered to fucking move units.” - Jim James
This is pure awesome. Smooth instrumental hip-hop for a Tuesday afternoon.

I’ll have to stop being so lazy with this tumblr thingy, it’s been too long since my last post… Anyhow, today I wanted to let you guys know that I’ve put together a tune with a vocalist, MS44, and it’s now available for free download via her soundcloud as well as mine! It’s called Massive Delusion, have a listen :)
